MAKE A BEQUEST

You can, by drafting a will, transmit all or part of your assets to an association such as Toutes à l’école, upon your death (respecting the rules of available quota and reserved heirs). Any will can be modified and revocable at any time.
It is strongly recommended that you consult a notary for expert advice and to draw up a valid will.
There are three bequest formulas, depending on your personal situation and your wishes:
  • The universal legacy: it is only possible if you have no descendants. It allows you to bequeath all of your assets to one or more individuals or legal entities.
  • The universal title legacy: it allows you to bequeath a share of your property, while respecting the hereditary reserve.
  • The specific legacy: it allows you to bequeath a particular property (amount in an identified bank account, real estate, a work of art, etc.)

WORDS FROM VOLUNTEERS

My name is Valentin, and I am a double-degree student between an engineering school and HEC Paris. My course allowed me to take a gap year, and I wanted to devote it to a long and exotic experience. In 2017 I had already gone to Cambodia for five weeks to volunteer at the Happy Chandara school summer camp. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the people I had worked with, but found the format too short to fully enjoy it. So I decided to return to Cambodia during this gap year, this time for five months, between August and December 2019. I was assigned to different missions at the hostel opened by Toutes à l’école in Phnom Penh, which hosts students who have already graduated from the baccalaureate and who attend universities in the capital city. In addition to the day-to-day affairs of the hostel, I was responsible for developing community life in the home, facilitating the monitoring of the students' career and exchanges with the headquarters of the association, and even monitoring the financial assistance that the charity gives back to students. With these different missions, I was able to work daily with the staff of the home, a mixed French and Khmer team. But I was also very often in contact with the students. I discovered in depth their culture, their daily life, and the very strong bond they have with their family but also with each other after a fifteen-year adventure at Happy Chandara and beyond. I was impressed by the students' staunch zest for life and their determination to succeed. One quickly becomes humbled in the face of so much motivation, discipline and goodwill, especially since many of them one day aspire to give back to the community the chance that Toutes à l’école has given them. Many people want to find a job later in the service of others, their culture or their country: they will be teachers, doctors, tour guides, diplomats and even film directors. I still enjoy following them on their journey and hearing from them, even more than a year after leaving Cambodia. One is quickly convinced that all these students deserve the help we offer them and that we support their ambition, and I recommend the experience to anyone who would like to make a contribution to join the teams of the hostel, whether for a short period or for several months. It is an unforgettable experience, which one does not return indifferent to.

WORDS FROM SPONSORS

The day I spent at Happy Chandara in February 2020 where I met my sponsee THO Lim Rasy was completely unique and different to every other trip I’ve ever taken. Lim Rasy is a 14-year-old girl. Later on in life she will be a doctor and a photographer. Every day she cycles 8km to the school, carried by her will to learn, to succeed, to go to university, to change things, … Once there, I was greeted by an exceptional woman, Thary, who took me everywhere, to classes, to sport lessons, to dance classes, music, sewing, yoga, and also the medical centre, the library, the media centre, the canteen, the hostel, the permaculture program, … Happy Chandara is more than just a school, it’s a project in communication. The most intense emotional moment was when I met Lim Rasy’s family at their home. I was deeply touched by their story, but also by the way Thary listened attentively and the sage advice she gave to Lim Rasy’s mother. At the end of the day I had the pleasure of meeting a multitude of impressive women, full of energy, intelligent, working towards their future. Visiting in person brought a whole other dimension to my engagement. Thank you and well done to this formidable organisation TAE.
Catherine
Since she was 8 years old, I have seen Bopha evolve, gain confidence and flourish. What a great human experience the sponsorship of Bopha has been, it’s the snowball effect that convinces me. On top of education, we provide nutritional and medical assistance to a whole family! During my second trip to Cambodia, Bopha managed to say a few words to me in English. This exchange and the progress she has made made me so emotional. I also got to meet her father who was very grateful and we were able to communicate thanks to Thary’s translation.
