The day I spent at Happy Chandara in February 2020 where I met my sponsee THO Lim Rasy was completely unique and different to every other trip I’ve ever taken. Lim Rasy is a 14-year-old girl. Later on in life she will be a doctor and a photographer. Every day she cycles 8km to the school, carried by her will to learn, to succeed, to go to university, to change things, … Once there, I was greeted by an exceptional woman, Thary, who took me everywhere, to classes, to sport lessons, to dance classes, music, sewing, yoga, and also the medical centre, the library, the media centre, the canteen, the hostel, the permaculture program, … Happy Chandara is more than just a school, it’s a project in communication. The most intense emotional moment was when I met Lim Rasy’s family at their home. I was deeply touched by their story, but also by the way Thary listened attentively and the sage advice she gave to Lim Rasy’s mother. At the end of the day I had the pleasure of meeting a multitude of impressive women, full of energy, intelligent, working towards their future. Visiting in person brought a whole other dimension to my engagement. Thank you and well done to this formidable organisation TAE.

Since she was 8 years old, I have seen Bopha evolve, gain confidence and flourish. What a great human experience the sponsorship of Bopha has been, it’s the snowball effect that convinces me. On top of education, we provide nutritional and medical assistance to a whole family! During my second trip to Cambodia, Bopha managed to say a few words to me in English. This exchange and the progress she has made made me so emotional. I also got to meet her father who was very grateful and we were able to communicate thanks to Thary’s translation.
